THE STAR
FESTIVAL ON JULY 7th. IN JAPAN
This is a story of two stars that are
able to meet between the milky way in the sky.
One of star is princess Ori (Vega), the
other is Hikoboshi who is a hard worker as a rancher ( Altair).
Ori’s father,
who is an emperor, was looking for a man to marry Ori.
After he got some good information about
Hikoboshi, he heard that Hikoboshi was a nice man to marry Ori. He tried to get
them to meet each other and they were soon linked.
Soon They got married, Hikoboshi became
lazy, because they were getting along very happily with each other.
However her father got angry with him,
because he wanted Hikoboshi a hard worker, then Ori’s father made a decision to
separate them between the west and east side of the milky way.
They could not finally meet each other
regularly, but the father allowed them to meet only once every year, on the
evening of 7th.
In that night Hikoboshi can ride on a
magpie (bird) and fly from east to west side of the sky( like a river) to see
her.
But if It is a cloudy or rainy night,
there is no chance to meet.
If it is finally a clear night, they can
meet and make love.
According to the history of Japan, this
is from an ancient story from China.
People believe that if they wish for
something on the 7th of July, it will come true.
So they write each wish on a peace of
paper and hang it on a bamboo leaf until the day before the star festival on
the 7th.
If somebody can’t see the stars (Vega
& Altair), the dreams don’t come true, it is as bad as lovers who can not
meet for only once a year.
However if it is a beautiful day, the
dreams might come true.
That is a fabulous story.
